Ottilie Bardsley is a 15 year old British Dressage Rider who originally attended boarding school on a prestigious Music scholarship where she played the sax and piano at grade 8. She sings, played double bass, the drums and began teaching herself the guitar. This was until she fell in love with dressage owing to missing her pony so much, so now attends Grange School, Hartford.
Her first dressage pony Dublin previously belonged to Erin Williams and then Alex Hellings. He is a 15yr old schoolmaster. She attended pony viewing day for the first time during the 2014/2015 season and was placed on the pony progress squad and Ottilie surprised many and rode in her first international that same season at Addington. She then progressed to riding at Saumur and soon to compete at Hickstead in July 2015. In Saumur, Dublin came 5th in the CDIP team Test and Ottilie has achieved many personal best scores with Ottilie and is a fantastic 4th place reserve for the 2015 Pony Europeans. She was also the 2015 Petplan Area Champion at restricted Advanced Medium. At the end of this season Ottilie will be looking for a new young talented rider to buy Dublin.
The family have leased Madam's Miss Maria (Dotts) another pony, from Becky Moody in September last year but unfortunately she has been plagued by bumps and bangs and despite some great premier league results and being nominated for Internationals she was never fit enough to go.
So early in 2015, Ottilie viewed and bought Kingsley Ciske, a Dutch team pony from Demy Kurstjens who achieved 5th in European Pony Championships with Demy. Ottilie has bonded with him very well in such a short time, came 7th in the Kur in Compiegne and has managed to secure a 2nd place reserve position for the pony Europeans.
Ottie began her training with David Hunt and then Becky Moody. More recently with the pony squads she has also trained with Peter Storr and Darryl Thickett. She is now mentored and trained by Charlotte Dujardin OBE. In 2016, Ottilie and Kingsley Ciske were selected to represent Great Britain at the European Pony Championships. Undoubtedly Ottilie is hooked and has decided that there is no other career for her than dressage and with a personal goal of the Olympics and a pipeline of future horses for her, the future looks very bright..
