A little about me...
I was born in New York City in November 1994. In 1996, my family moved to Rome, and four years later we moved to Brussels.
I learned to walk, and then I learned to ride
I started riding when I was five, and I've been competing in dressage since the age of 10. While it’s true that I’ve spent most of my life competing, it’s never felt like work. From the first time I was on a horse, I felt that was where I belonged. I’ve always loved animals, and horses have particularly had a special place in my heart. One of the best things about competing in dressage is the close bond you form with the horses you compete with. I love preparing a horse because that’s how I get to know his/her personality. My favorite part is developing that level of confidence with them so that you know that they will want to give their best performance.
I’m currently competing in the “Grand Prix Under 25” category as a senior rider and I have competed with the Belgian dressage team in 9 consecutive European Championships. Since 2011, I have been a part of the Belgian VLP talent team. The talent team allowed me to have regular training sessions with Anky, and that’s how I met my current trainer and mentor.
Competing on such a high level takes a tremendous amount of time and dedication. I still get to live a normal life, spending time with friends and family, going on holiday, those sorts of things; I just have to be very disciplined when it comes to balancing training and pursuing my other passion ...
I’m a rider, and a student
When I’m not training and spending time with my horses, I’m studying fashion at the Istituto Marangoni in London. It’s another world entirely, navigating the bustling streets of London, interacting with models, organizing photo shoots … and I love it. My grandfather was John B. Fairchild, the renowned chairman of Fairchild Publications, long-time editor of Women’s Wear Daily and founder of W magazine. Both my parents have had long careers in fashion as well, working with iconic brands like Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Valentino. So it’s no wonder fashion plays a large role in my life.
I have one dream
My goal is to compete in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. I know, as far as dreams go, that’s pretty big. But I have two amazingly supportive parents, a team of top-notch professionals helping me train and look after my horses and the commitment to see this through. The dream starts here.
